My background is in Psychology and Teaching and on a personal level, I struggled most of my life with my relationship with food.
After attaining a AfN and REPS Certified Qualification as a nutritionist, I decided that due to my own struggles with disordered eating and lack of self-worth, along with the feeling that I had 'failed' at every diet, I became passionate about helping people in similar situations.
I realised that I had not failed at all of these diets, these diets had failed me!
I have spent the last few years learning about myself and about how diet culture has taken so much of my life. I learned that my relationship with food and my body image were so poor that it was having serious consequences on my life.
I have learned over the years to reject the harmful culture of dieting and listen to my body's needs. I know when I am truly hungry and I know when to stop. I know that if I eat certain foods I won't feel great after. Most importantly for me is that I am finally free from that dreaded feeling of guilt after eating what I might have considered 'bad food'.
The feeling of utter freedom and inner peace this has brought be has lead me to want to help others with the same struggles.
